Ruwwad

Ruwwad (The Arab Foundation for Sustainable Development) is a community empowerment initiative that helps disadvantaged communities overcome marginalization through youth activism, civic engagement, and education. In 2005, Ruwwad was launched as a community empowerment program with a youth centric model focusing on solutions such as education, socio-cultural development, activism and civic engagement through volunteerism. Over the past four years, Ruwwad has been providing essential services to Jabal Natheef in several key areas: health, safety, education, employment, cultural nourishment and legal aid. It started by initiating an on-going dialogue with Jabal Natheef, a severely underserved urban area of approximately 100,000 in the heart of East Amman, Jordan, in order to satisfy the needs and aspirations of the community. Ruwwad has also cooperated on initiatives with two rural communities and five other municipalities in Jordan.
