Sawiris Foundation for Social Development SFSD

In its quest for social responsibility, the Sawiris Foundation for Social development (SFSD) was founded in April 2001 shaping a new partnership between prominent members of the business world and the development community with the sincere commitment to meet Egypt’s priority development goals and contribute to the achievement of the MDG.

As a grant-making foundation and one of the first family donor foundations, it was set up with an endowment from the Sawiris Family and held a special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council ECOSOC in 2005.

Its Vision is “To be a National Donor leader and an Active Partner in Social work and sustainable development fields” with a mission to contribute to Egypt’s human development efforts by strengthening civil society partnership and supporting initiatives that promote job creation through training, quality education and access to micro credit. Equally, The Foundation fosters efforts of promoting health improvement and greater access of local communities to basic infrastructure and services, two important prerequisites for human development. We believe that creation of real opportunities empowers people to lead a productive life that would realize their full potential.
